This 2 days Georgetown tour gives you an idea of how people in the Gambian countryside live and offers a relaxed way of meeting and seeing the people in the interior of the Gambia. Join us for an opportunity to experience the diverse culture, tribal traditions and history of the people of The Gambia.
DAY 1:Depart our respective hotels at 7:00am in the morning and drive along the the Trans-Gambia highway heading to the lower river region .Our first stop will be Farafenni,the main commercial town in the North bank region.It’s a border town between Senegal and The Gambia.A horse/donkey ride in the heart of the market for 20 minutes.From the farafenni market,we will drive to the historic Wassu stone circle,a burial ground for important past kings of the ancient Gambia.Has a museum of rich history as well.From Wassu stone circle,we will drive to Kuntaur river,on board a boat for a 3hours boat trip on the River Gambia.A stop at the Baboon island to visit the chimpanzee rehabilitation center.A good opportunity to spot Hippos and crocodiles in the wild.Cruise back to the Kuntuar lodge and have our lunch.Overnight stay in a typically built African round houses in Jangjang bureh camp.Dinner and entertainment at night by the Mandingo tribe.
DAY 2:Depart at 8:00am after breakfast.A tour of the colonial Georgetown to see the slave market,the underground slave house and the remains of the colonial era.Drive back through the south bank region of The Gambia and stop at Abca’s creek for lunch.A drive back home.On our way home,stop by a local family for a family visit in any of the local villages .Finally back to our respective hotels.Thank you
